Neet figures: More young people without work

This year the rising unemployed and uneducated young people has been raised to a total of 954,000. Compared to last year, the unemployed and uneducated young people was raised with 29,000. These young people are called ‘neet’ which means: not in education employment or training.
The statics are worrying, that is why the government is investing 1 billion pounds to improve the schools, revise the education and to boost the apprenticeship programme. This money is invested into the Youth Contract which will support 16 till 24 year olds into an education, training and work.

It is really shocking that there are so many young people who are uneducated and unemployed. These young people are the future. What will happen in 10 or 20 years when the number of unemployed and uneducated (young) people has increased. Are they able to take care of their self without a job? How will they raise their children if they are unemployed, and will their children end up unemployed and uneducated too? I think it is really good that the government is investing one billion pounds into improving the education system. Hopefully the number of young uneducated young people will decrease so that they will have a bright future.
